Chennai Silks

What is shopping in Chennai without a visit to Chennai Silks? This chain has sprawling showrooms in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Trichy, Karur, Ernakulam, and even Paris, France. Chennai Silks does not produce innovative sarees, but the stock is good and long-lasting. If you go, check out their Guinness World Record.

Nalli Silk House

Nalli is the oldest store to become established in Chennai. Many foreigners frequent this store. The ambiance is traditional Indian upscale, with a selection of hand-picked and unique sarees and good customer service. Though Nalli doesn't advertise much, it is a favorite store in Chennai. Our family only purchases bridal sarees at Nalli.

Shop While You Walk

Many of them stay away from the big stores and buy clothes in the smaller shops on the street. Once you are good knowledge with shopping on the street, you can have more control over your shopping experience.

A recent trend is to buy material and have a personalized stalwart stitched in about an hour. There are many tailor shops overflowing with customers in cubicles, deep inside the street. Here's how it works:

  • Just get a material from a store.
  • Specify your design requirements.
  • Come back to find your new salwars with stunning stitching.
  • Spend about an hour in any of the nearby shops.
Street shops on Ranganathan Street sell pretty bags from all over India at cheap prices. Road-side dealers sell bags from North India at half of their original prices. Remember that if the shop-keeper claims a bag costs Rs. 250 , tell him you bought the same bag for your friend last week in some other shop for Rs.100 If he refuses, say angrily that you will get it at that shop itself and walk away! You will be called back for negotiation. Most of the time you will get the price you asked for.

Pandian Bangles

A small shop with really good accessories like bangles, big earrings, chains, and cosmetics. You can find accessory sets matching your dress from Rs.25 to Rs.3000. When you are in T. Nagar, do pay a visit to this shop.

Daily about chennai

Hi

Viewers here i am going to post most famous places in Chennai and what are all things famous  in that areas with pictures some times i tried with videos

Pallavaram
My first places starts at pallavaram. I thing you all knows about pallavaram and also you guys know where it's located, ok let i explain where it is for new persons .It's very nearest to Chennai airport

Let us see whats famous here

Friday market
Famous  sandhai(Market,Bazzar) were you will get vegetables ,fruits, flowing plant, watches, old shirts, sarees, curtains, resale furniture, new furniture, sofa, resale electronic items.every thing at low price.

The entire bazaar starts from  Pallavaram railway station at one end to Trisulam railway station at the other. There must have been at least more than 800 to 1000 stalls selling a variety of goods to eager shoppers on that day.
I just do some  enquirys about this weekly bazaar in Pallavaram It is started functioning from as early as the 1800s, when traders brought cattle from different places to sell to the soldiers of the British-Indian army settled in the nearby areas. As years passed the bazaar expanded and started selling a variety of goods to the British as well as to the locals. Till recently the Friday bazaar was conducted in an open ground under the control of Pallavaram Cantonment but with the Department of Atomic Energy acquiring the land the bazaar had to be moved to its current location. This shift has only brought good to this bazaar as it helped draw more attention from the public and increased its patronage.
It is no wonder that people from various places have been coming regularly to this bazaar for decades. They can buy almost anything they want from the bazaar at throw away prices and people who can draw a good bargain stand to gain handsomely. As one customer says “one can get anything from this bazaar except for one’s father and mother”. Our day long visit to this market made us realize that such high praise for this market stands true and is not a mere exaggeration. There are a variety of items from cloths to cattle; pets to pen-drives; mobile phones to motorcycles; detergents to DVDs; food stuffs to electronic items; table fans to air-coolers and air-conditioners; lamps, laptops, fruits, fresh vegetables, flower pots, furniture, antiques, an array of household appliances and what not. The most interesting thing to note is that most of the goods are second-hand and people get them at throwaway prices and the poor and middle class feel it to be a boon to them.
